Dr. David Wong, MD, is a physician executive and digital health entrepreneur with nearly 25 years of experience leading clinical operations, venture due diligence, and virtual care delivery at scale. He currently serves as the Director of Virtual Health Product Management and a Physician Advisor for Utilization Management at Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, Texas, where he orchestrates virtual health and remote patient monitoring strategies across acute and ambulatory care settings. Dr. Wong’s extensive tenure at Memorial Hermann includes serving as Associate Vice President of Strategic Investments & Innovation, where he spearheaded venture diligence and pilot execution for high-impact technologies including AI ambient scribes, food-as-medicine programs, and virtual intensivist models. Previously, as Emergency Department Medical Director at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land, he engineered initiatives that achieved a 50% reduction in opioid use within months and piloted natural-language AI patient navigation systems. An experienced crisis leader, Dr. Wong managed frontline emergency care through major national crises—including 9/11, the DC anthrax exposure, and Hurricane Harvey—and brings outside-the-hospital expertise from his prior service as a U.S. Department of Defense emergency physician and disaster team commander, as well as six years as the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of the digital health startup SnapHealth.
