Howard Landa

Chief Medical Informatics Officer

Dr. Howard Landa is a seasoned executive and leader in the field of medical informatics, currently serving as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) at Adventist Health. He began his medical career in 1990 as a pediatric urologist at Loma Linda University before transitioning to healthcare information technology in 1996, driven by a philosophy that technology should be leveraged to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and clinician satisfaction. Over his distinguished career, Dr. Landa has held several high-level administrative roles, including Vice President of Clinical Informatics and EHR at Sutter Health, CMIO at Alameda Health System, and CMIO for Kaiser Permanente’s Hawaii Region. An active figure in the broader health IT community, he has spent over two years as the Chairman of the Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems (AMDIS), has been heavily involved with HIMSS, and earned his Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School followed by training at the Baylor College of Medicine.
